Penyuluhan Tentang Pentingnya Pemahaman Budaya Dalam Mengajar Bahasa Inggris Bagi Guru-Guru Bahasa Inggris di SMK PGRI 2 Bandar Lampung

Abstract

Communication in English is certainly quite different from Indonesian. One of them is the existence of cultural differences between American culture as native speakers of English and Indonesian culture. This difference can lead to errors or misunderstandings. The target of the implementation of this service activity is the teachers in the field of English language study at SMK PGRI 2 Bandar Lampung. The service was held on September 10, 2016. The results obtained were (1) the teacher got a theory about the importance of understanding culture (2) increasing knowledge and understanding of teachers in the field of English study about the importance of understanding culture in teaching English (3) subject matter teachers English has gained new experiences about the importance of cultural understanding in teaching English (4) counseling the importance of cultural understanding in teaching English has a positive impact on learning English especially in using English in communicating both to teachers and students who learn and use English as foreign language.
