Abstract

The main problem discussed in this research is the low writing ability of students, which has not yet become a habit or a necessity in the academic world. The course on writing academic articles is designed to improve students' writing skills, but these skills cannot be fully developed just by learning in class. Students should build a habit of writing regularly, consistently, and with discipline. Related research review for this study is titled "Development of Teaching Materials for Writing Scientific Articles Using Constructivism Approach with Google Form Media for MKWU." They both create teaching materials in the form of academic articles, but they differ in approach, media used, subject focus, and the location of the research. The new research focuses on the product, the course context, user characteristics, and the needs of PBSI students at the FKIP Faculty of Universitas Baturaja. The study involved analyzing students' needs for writing learning materials, validating the product with experts, testing the product, and assessing its practicality. The method used in this research is research and development. Based on the needs identification carried out by the researcher towards sixth-semester students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Education (FKIP), Universitas Baturaja, the generally needed teaching materials are articles that are easy to understand, enjoyable, and come with clear and easy-to-follow learning instructions and guidance. The teaching material includes examples that help students better understand the topics covered and also has a summary. Assessment or practice, using simple and practical language, along with exercises or evaluations to improve student learning outcomes.
