Pengaruh Gaya Bahasa Gen Alpha dalam Menciptakan Sekat Komunikasi Antar Generasi (Kajian Sosiolinguistik)

Abstract

The Alpha generation, born between 2010 and 2024 AD, is growing up in an environment deeply intertwined with digital technology. Similarly, their linguistic styles are largely influenced by digital content. The language styles they often use frequently lead to misunderstandings with previous generations. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the impact of the language styles employed by the Alpha generation in creating communication barriers across generations. This research adopts a sociolinguistic approach using qualitative analysis methods. Through qualitative methods, the study is supported by data obtained from various rapidly evolving social media platforms. The analysis focuses on the use of language styles, their variations, and the purposes/contexts of language use. The study also examines the shift in language meanings created by the Alpha generation compared to previous generations, which significantly affects the interactions between the Alpha generation and others. Thus, these shifts in meaning contribute to the formation of generational barriers. In other words, this study broadens the understanding of intergenerational sociolinguistic dynamics and highlights the role of language in fostering both cohesion and tension in cross-generational interactions.
