Abstract

This research was motivated by the learning of Indonesian class VIII students of SMP Utama 3 Bandar Lampung in the material of writing a narrative essay Indonesian. Many students have difficulties in learning, including students having difficulty stringing words into sentences and low student interest in participating in learning to write narrative essays Indonesian. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the influence and effectiveness of the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model on the writing skills of essays Indonesian grade VIII students of SMP Utama 3. The research sample was class VIII A as many as 32 students as an experimental class and class VIII B as many as 32 students as a control class. In the experimental class, researchers applied the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model for two meetings and the control class applied a conventional learning model. At the meeting, students were given a posttest in the form of a writing test for Indonesian essays. It was then analyzed using a simple linear regression test. Then the calculated value = 2.493 with a significance level of 0.018 is obtained greater than the ttable value = 2.042 for a significant level of 0.05 so that the H1 hypothesis is accepted. The influence of the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model was 17.2%, which had a very low effect. This is evidenced in the effectiveness of the Think Talk Write learning model in the results of the mean N Gain score for the experimental class of 0.17 which is categorized as low. It can be concluded that the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model has a very low effect on the writing skills of Indonesian essays.
