Abstract

This Community Service activity aimed to strengthen the English language competence of Senior High School students through the implementation of the Autonomous Learning method. The program was based on the limited level of students’ learning autonomy in studying English, The Autonomous Learning method was selected because it emphasizes students’ active roles in planning, monitoring, and evaluating their own learning processes. The implementation method consisted of a preparation stage and an execution stage. During the preparation stage, the team conducted a needs analysis, coordinated with the school, developed learning materials, and designed Autonomous Learning–based instructional tools. The execution stage involved material delivery, guided independent learning practice, group discussions, and learning reflection. The results showed an increase in students’ motivation, self-confidence, and active participation in English learning. In addition, students began to demonstrate improved ability to manage their learning processes more independently. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Autonomous Learning method is effective in strengthening Senior High School students’ English competence and is relevant for sustainable application.
