Abstract

Mathematics anxiety (math anxiety) is a common problem experienced by students in mathematics learning. This condition is characterized by fear, anxiety, low self-confidence, and difficulties when facing mathematical activities or solving mathematical problems. It can negatively affect students’ motivation, participation, and learning outcomes. Therefore, preventive efforts are needed through guidance and counseling services and innovative learning to create a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment. This community service activity aimed to prevent math anxiety through the integration of guidance and counseling services and innovative learning at SMP PGRI 1 Trimurjo, Central Lampung. The activities included observation, workshops, assistance in implementing innovative learning, and evaluation. The results showed that teachers improved their understanding of the characteristics and management of math anxiety and were able to implement more interactive learning strategies. Students also demonstrated increased courage, participation, learning motivation, and self-confidence. Thus, integrating guidance and counseling services with innovative learning can effectively help prevent math anxiety among junior high school students.
