Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the public speaking and oral communication skills of the Pioneer Youth (PPi) in Gotong Royong Village. Low self-confidence and limited ability to speak in public are significant challenges faced by young people in responding to today’s global competition. The activity employed a participatory training method consisting of material presentation, simulations, hands-on practice, and feedback. The training was conducted for one day, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, and involved 15 participants. The results showed an improvement in participants’ self-confidence, particularly in constructing appropriate sentences and using proper grammar when speaking in public, as well as applying suitable body language. Participants also demonstrated better control over nervousness when speaking before an audience. Public speaking skills require not only a broad vocabulary but also the ability to manage anxiety and build self-confidence. Structured and practice-based public speaking training proved effective in improving oral communication skills, particularly among young people who are beginning to become actively involved in organizations.
